Karimganj district has a long international border with Bangladesh and it is one of the targeted district and has a large victims of drug abuse. There is no existing Government sponsored IRCA available and no drug abused related services being provided by any hospital in the Karimganj district.

With an aim to undertake preventive education, awareness generation, identification, counselling, treatment and rehabilitation of individuals with substance abuse and to provide for a whole range of community based services for identification, motivation, counselling, de-addiction treatment, after care and rehabilitation for Whole Person Recovery (WPR) of drug abused persons, WODWICHEE setup the District De-Addiction Centre at NH-8, Berajal, Nilambazar, District Karimganj, State Assam.
