Registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860, this organisation was founded in 1989 by a team of philanthropists with the goal of uplifting and empowering the underprivileged and marginalised population. Since the beginning, the organisation has been supporting the needy people from different corners of Barak Valley with different projects on Skill Development, Child Care and Protection, Women Empowerment, Education, Empowerment and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disability, Youth Employment and so on.
The Organisation has worked extensively in the areas of providing care and protection to children in difficult situations, economically and socially deprived and victimised women, elderly people lacking support for living and care, persons with disabilities and various other needy groups emerging from different situations such as disasters. In the last 30 years, the organisation has constantly invested in improving the quality of its existing services. It has also invested significantly in the workforce through training and sensitisation events and also in improving connectivity at community level. This has resulted in improvement in the speed of access to important services and an overall improvement in the services.
In the last few years, the organisation has experienced some transition in its focus from pure welfare activities to capacity building and advocacy initiatives, especially for women, children and senior citizens. But the organisation also retains its focus on building and enhancing core social, economic and political competencies of grassroots communities with the aim of empowering the rural poor and other marginalised communities. Besides, sustainable development of Women, Children, persons with disability, and the elderly has always remained a core issue of the organization with an emphasis on active involvement and participation of the beneficiaries in the process.
Some of the important areas of our present work include protection and empowerment of women and girls, interventions in the areas of education, vocational training, shelter, legal aid and other need based support services, interventions for meeting the needs of children and elderly people with services in the domains of care and protection, recreation, health services, special needs etc. interventions with persons with disabilities in the areas of social and economic empowerment along with other special needs.
